沖縄では餅を包むのに、月桃（げっとう）の葉を使います。
殺菌力があるのですね。すこし前まで、どの家のまわりにも
自生していた月桃も、いまは見かけなくなりました。
その月桃が、西表島ではまだそこかしこにあって、
しかも花まで咲き乱れていました。
月桃（げっとう）の白い花と緑の葉が朝陽に染まる頃、
おばあが、白砂を撒いた道を竹帚できれいにしていました。
おだやかな一日の始まりです。「朝朗の月桃路」は友禅アート。
絹に「手描き友禅」で描かれたものを、
「ジクリー（版画の技法）」で紙に
表現しています。友禅の持つ、
ぼかしと布目の独特な雰囲気を
あますことなく再現。
長い年月にもほどんど退色しない
といわれています。
展示・保存の際は、直射日光と
湿気を避けることをお勧めします。

In Okinawa, shell ginger leaves are used to wrap mochi.
They have antibacterial properties.
Until recently, shell ginger grew wild around every house, but now it is no longer seen.
But shell ginger is still found here and there on Iriomote Island,
and even in full bloom.
When the white flowers and green leaves of shell ginger are dyed in the morning sun,
an old woman was cleaning the road with white sand with a bamboo broom.
It's a peaceful start to the day.
"Morning Shell Ginger Road" is Yuzen art.
The silk is hand-painted with "Yuzen" and then expressed on paper with "Giclee" (a printing technique).
The unique atmosphere of the blur and fabric texture of Yuzen is reproduced without any blemishes.
It is said that the color hardly fades even after many years.
When exhibiting or storing, we recommend avoiding direct sunlight and humidity.
